I watched doctors, nurses, and volunteers give up their nights to help people who had fallen on hard times. At that clinic, I saw schoolmates and neighbors I never expected to see there. That showed me how painful it can be when people fall through the cracks, but also how much good can be done when a community comes together to uplift its neighbors.</h4><h4>My father is a third-generation plumber and had me out on job sites from as early as I can remember. He taught me two lessons our family learned through generations of hard work: if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself; and if something is worth doing, it is worth doing right.</h4><h4>Those experiences shaped me. They taught me that service means showing up for people, and that responsibility means doing the job right.</h4>

At the same time, every paycheck still had taxes taken out. That shaped the way I see government.</h4><h4>Tax dollars are not abstract money. They are hours of someone’s life, time away from family, and money that could have gone toward savings, a home, or a dream.</h4><h4>If government is going to require that investment from working people, it has a responsibility to return real value, protect their rights, and treat every dollar with respect. It should also make sure hardworking Carolinians are not carrying more of the tax burden than they should.</h4><h4>This is what drives me toward public service. I want to uplift, protect, and care for my neighbors, as these experiences and my faith direct me. I have seen representation in South Carolina fall short of that calling for decades. I am done waiting. I am stepping up to give my neighbors the representation they deserve.</h4>

<h3>A fairer burden, a better return, and real accountability.</h3>South Carolinians work too hard to be squeezed from every direction. Working families pay taxes when money comes out of their paycheck, when they buy groceries, fill up the car, repair a vehicle, pay a utility bill, or pick up school supplies. Too often, the taxes and fees that look simplest on paper are the ones that hit hardest in real life.Not all taxes are created equal. Sales taxes, excise taxes, fees, fines, and tariffs tend to fall harder on working people because they raise the cost of basic needs. A wealthy person and a working parent may pay the same sales tax rate at the register, but they do not feel it the same way. For one family, a higher grocery bill is an annoyance. For another, it means something else has to wait.That does not mean government should cut blindly or starve the services people depend on. It means we need a fairer system. South Carolina should reduce the pressure on working families where possible, close giveaways and loopholes that benefit insiders, and grow the tax base through better jobs, stronger local businesses, better infrastructure, and healthier communities.When federal policies like tariffs raise prices and discourage investment, South Carolina leaders should be honest about who pays the cost. Even when the state cannot turn every federal knob, it can still fight for workers, farmers, manufacturers, small businesses, and families who end up carrying the burden.<h2>What I believe</h2><ul><li>Every tax dollar represents someone’s time, labor, and sacrifice.</li><li>Taxes should be judged by who actually carries the burden.</li><li>Cutting taxes for the wealthy and corporations and shifting costs onto sales taxes, fees, and basic needs is not real tax relief.</li><li>Government should protect essential services while demanding better results.</li><li>Public money should serve public needs, not political favors.</li><li>Waste, fraud, corruption, and intentional abuse of taxpayer dollars should bring real consequences.</li></ul><h2>What I want to fight for</h2><ul><li>Lower pressure on working families by reviewing sales taxes, fees, fines, and other regressive costs.</li><li>Targeted relief for families, seniors, small businesses, and working people who are most impacted by rising costs the most.</li><li>Stronger audits, clearer reporting, and real oversight of state spending.</li><li>Closing loopholes, sweetheart deals, and wasteful carveouts that do not deliver public value.</li><li>Growing the tax base through better wages, stronger local businesses, workforce development, infrastructure, and smart investment.</li><li>Tougher penalties for corruption, fraud, and intentional misuse of taxpayer money, including real jail time when public officials knowingly abuse the public trust.</li></ul><h2>Why this matters</h2>Tax fairness is not just about rates on a chart. It is about whether people can afford to live, work, raise a family, start a business, and build a future in South Carolina.When government leans too heavily on regressive taxes and fees, working people pay more for the basics. When money is wasted, families are hit twice: first when they pay in, and again when the roads still need work, schools still need support, healthcare is still hard to access, and utility bills keep climbing.A better system does not cut services people rely on just to make a headline. It protects taxpayers by making the tax burden fairer, spending money more carefully, and investing in the things that help families and businesses grow.<h2>Bottom line</h2>I want a government that respects your hard-earned money, lowers pressure on working families, spends carefully, and builds a stronger South Carolina without balancing the system on the backs of the people doing the work.

Working people should not carry the burden while waste, corruption, and bad priorities drain public money. I want your tax dollars treated with respect and spent where they actually help people.

Protecting Your Tax Dollars

<h3>Government should be your advocate, not a shield for powerful companies.</h3>South Carolina families are getting squeezed from all sides. Wages do not stretch far enough, utility bills keep climbing, corporations keep finding new ways to pass costs onto consumers, and too many workers are left with too little power when something goes wrong.I believe government should be the taxpayer’s representation on retainer. When a company cheats people, abuses workers, hides fees, raises rates without justification, or uses its power to take advantage of ordinary families, government should be ready to investigate, regulate, fine, and when necessary, litigate on behalf of the public.Too often, government acts more like in-house counsel for the corporations that lobby them, fund campaigns, and write the rules behind closed doors. That is backwards. Public office should serve the public.The weakening of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is a warning sign. The CFPB showed what serious consumer protection can look like: clear rules, public complaints, enforcement actions, lawsuits, penalties, and money returned to people who were harmed. When that kind of watchdog is gutted, companies benefit because there are fewer cops on the beat and fewer legal battles being fought for consumers.South Carolina should not wait for Washington to protect our people. We can build stronger state-level protections for workers, consumers, utility customers, borrowers, renters, patients, and families who are tired of being told to fight powerful companies on their own.<h2>What I believe</h2><ul><li>Government should be an advocate for taxpayers, workers, and consumers.</li><li>Markets need real rules, real enforcement, and real consequences.</li><li>If South Carolina is to be a Right to Work state then, it should fight for the Rights of the Workers.</li><li>Companies should not be allowed to profit from confusing fees, predatory contracts, wage theft, unsafe conditions, or unfair practices.</li><li>Utility companies should not be able to raise rates again and again without serious scrutiny.</li><li>Fines should be large enough to change behavior, not small enough to become a cost of doing business.</li><li>Public officials should listen to workers, consumers, experts, and evidence — not just lobbyists and political donors.</li></ul><h2>What I want to fight for</h2><ul><li>Stronger state consumer protections modeled on the best work of the CFPB, including action against junk fees, predatory lending, abusive debt collection, unfair credit reporting, and deceptive financial products.</li><li>A stronger state-level consumer watchdog that can investigate complaints, publish data, refer cases, and push legal action when companies harm South Carolinians.</li><li>Real enforcement against wage theft, worker misclassification, retaliation, unsafe conditions, and companies that break labor laws.</li><li>Better worker pay and protections through smart tax incentives, stronger standards for companies receiving public money, and fines for employers that abuse workers.</li><li>Stronger oversight of utility rate increases, with clearer public justification before companies are allowed to raise bills.</li><li>A tougher review process for power companies, so ratepayers are not forced to cover bad planning, failed projects, excessive executive pay, lobbying costs, or shareholder-driven mistakes.</li><li>Smarter investment in power generation, grid reliability, energy efficiency, and competition so South Carolina families are not trapped paying more for worse service.</li><li>A government willing to sue, fine, regulate, and challenge powerful companies when they exploit workers, consumers, or ratepayers.</li></ul><h2>Why this matters</h2>A family can do everything right and still get crushed by systems they have no real power over. A worker can show up every day and still be underpaid, misclassified, or denied basic dignity. A consumer can pay every bill on time and still get trapped by hidden fees, abusive contracts, medical debt, credit reporting errors, or predatory lending. A family can cut back everywhere they can and still watch utility bills rise again.That is not freedom. That is a rigged marketplace.If we are going to live in a consumer-based economy, then consumer protection has to be treated as basic public infrastructure. People should not need a lawyer, an accountant, and hours of free time just to understand a bill, challenge a fee, fix a credit report, or fight a company that did them wrong.The same is true for workers. South Carolina praises hard work constantly, but praise does not pay rent, stop wage theft, keep a workplace safe, or protect someone from retaliation. If this state is going to keep calling itself pro-worker, then it needs to prove it by standing up for the people doing the work.<h2>Bottom line</h2>I want a government that fights for workers, protects consumers, challenges powerful companies, and acts like the people’s advocate instead of corporate in-house counsel.

Powerful companies already have lobbyists, lawyers, and political influence. South Carolinians deserve a government willing to stand up for them too. Whether you are working, retired, disabled, raising a family, paying bills, or just trying to get by, you deserve protection from rising costs, hidden fees, utility hikes, unfair treatment, and unchecked corporate abuse.

It means the government should not be in the business of controlling your body, your marriage, your family, your faith, your private information, or your peaceful personal choices.Too many politicians talk about freedom while voting to take it away from people they disagree with. Republican leaders in Columbia have dismantled abortion rights, attacked marriage equality, and pushed government deeper into the most personal parts of people’s lives. That is not freedom. That is control.I believe South Carolinians are capable of making personal decisions for themselves, their families, and their futures. A representative should protect your freedom consistently, not pick and choose which rights matter based on party pressure, fear campaigns, or political convenience.Freedom also requires honesty. We should make policy based on real evidence, real-world outcomes, and conversations with doctors, scientists, legal experts, law enforcement, parents, workers, and the people directly affected. We should not build laws around fearmongering, bad science, political influencers, or talking points designed to divide us.<h2>What I believe</h2><ul><li>Personal freedom is a core part of living in a free society.</li><li>Government should protect rights consistently, not selectively.</li><li>People should have the freedom to make deeply personal medical, family, religious, and life decisions without unnecessary political interference.</li><li>Religious liberty matters, but it should never be twisted into a weapon used to deny other people equal treatment under the law.</li><li>Constitutional rights deserve real respect, including due process, privacy, free speech, and the Second Amendment.</li><li>A free society should be careful about giving government too much power to monitor, punish, or control ordinary people.</li></ul><h2>What I want to fight for</h2><ul><li>Protection for reproductive freedom, including the right to make private medical decisions without politicians standing between patients and doctors.</li><li>Respect for marriage equality and equal treatment under the law, because government should not get to decide whose family counts.</li><li>Defense of Second Amendment rights while supporting evidence-based ways to reduce violence, improve safety, and keep guns out of the hands of people who have clearly shown they are a danger to others.</li><li>Stronger digital privacy protections so your personal data, online activity, location information, and private communications are not treated like property for corporations or easy access for government.</li><li>Limits on surveillance-state overreach, because freedom means very little if the government can watch, track, or collect information on people without strong safeguards.</li><li>Legalizing and responsibly regulating marijuana, so adults are not treated like criminals for personal choices that should not ruin their lives, careers, or families.</li><li>A government that respects people’s right to live their lives without unnecessary interference, control, or punishment.</li></ul><h2>Why this matters</h2>When government starts deciding whose rights matter, freedom becomes fragile for everyone.If politicians can take away reproductive freedom today, they can come after marriage equality tomorrow. If they can ignore privacy because technology makes surveillance easy, they can build systems that follow people through every part of their lives. If they can use fear instead of evidence, they can justify almost any intrusion.This is personal. People should not have to beg politicians for permission to make medical decisions, marry the person they love, practice their faith, protect their privacy, defend themselves, or live peacefully without government breathing down their neck.A government that respects freedom gives people room to live according to their own beliefs, responsibilities, and hopes for the future.<h2>Bottom line</h2>I want a government that protects your freedom consistently, respects your private life, and trusts South Carolinians to make personal decisions without unnecessary political interference.

Protecting Personal Liberty

<h2>Fair Elections. Honest Government.</h2>South Carolinians deserve a government that answers to voters, not insiders, donors, or politicians trying to protect themselves. I want a government that is more honest, more accountable, more representative, and harder to abuse.Too often, ordinary people are told their vote matters while at the same time this system is designed to make them feel powerless. Gerrymandered districts protect politicians from real competition. Safe seats make the primary the only election that truly matters. Voters feel apoth because they feel like the outcome has already been decided. When that happens, politicians get more comfortable listening to party leaders, donors, and special interests than the people they were elected to serve.Democracy works best when elections are fair, government is transparent, and public office is treated like public service instead of a path to power, privilege, or personal enrichment. If we want people to believe in government again, government has to earn that trust.<h2>What I believe</h2><ul><li>Public office should be about service, not self-enrichment.</li><li>Voters should choose their leaders, not the other way around.</li><li>Districts should be drawn to represent real communities, not to protect incumbents or guarantee one-party control.</li><li>Democracy is not just about Election Day. It is about whether ordinary people are heard before, during, and after elections.</li><li>Trust in government will not be restored by speeches. It has to be earned through transparency, accountability, and real reform.</li></ul><h2>What I want to fight for</h2><ul><li>Stronger ethics rules with real enforcement, so politicians who abuse power face consequences instead of excuses.</li><li>More transparency in government decision-making, including clearer public access to votes, meetings, spending decisions, and conflicts of interest.</li><li>Fairer district maps that keep communities together, reduce gerrymandering, and make elections more competitive and representative.</li><li>Stronger guardrails against politicians using public office to enrich themselves, protect their own power, or reward political insiders.</li><li>Election reforms that give voters more meaningful choices and make it harder for politicians to hide in safe seats.</li><li>A government culture that values public input before decisions are made, not after the deal is already done.</li></ul><h2>Why this matters</h2>When democracy breaks down, everything else gets worse. Your tax dollars are easier to waste. Special interests get more power. Communities get ignored. Good people stop participating because they feel like the system is already rigged against them.Gerrymandering is not just a map problem. It becomes a trust problem. It tells voters that politicians are more interested in choosing their voters than earning their votes. The question is whether we are investing wisely, fairly, and with real results for the people paying into the system.Good investment should lower long-term costs, not just move them around. Better schools mean stronger workers, safer communities, and more opportunity. Better infrastructure means fewer car repairs, safer roads, stronger local business, and more reliable growth. Better access to healthcare means fewer emergencies, less medical debt, better productivity, and longer, healthier lives.South Carolina does not need vanity projects or one-size-fits-all solutions. Strong and Stable home life has a meaningful impact on the classroom.</li><li>A fairer school funding system that reduces the disadvantage rural and lower-wealth communities face when public education is tied too heavily to local property wealth.</li><li>Smaller class sizes; at every education level the average SC classroom is above 20+ students when studies show that number needs to be ~17 to see real improvement.</li><li>Better teacher recruitment and retention through stronger pay, clearer raise structures, safer classrooms, less paperwork bloat, and more respect for what teachers say they actually need.</li><li>Infrastructure planning that focuses on real needs: roads, bridges, drainage, water systems, broadband, utilities, and safe routes to school and work.</li><li>Healthcare investments that reduce long-term costs by improving access to preventive care, rural care, mental health services, and basic local health infrastructure.</li><li>Budget decisions that measure return on investment by whether families are healthier, students are better supported, workers can get to their jobs, and communities are stronger.</li></ul><h2>Why this matters</h2>When education, infrastructure, and healthcare fall short, families pay for it even if it never shows up as a tax bill.They pay for it in car repairs from bad roads.
